
對我來說,非洲真的是很陌生!但原來早在兩年前,在加拿大黃刀鎮極光之旅時,我竟然愛上了非洲埃塞俄比亞料理!一直很想要再吃,終於緣份讓我在香港品嚐到了!
Africa is really foreign to me! But it turns out that as early as two years ago, I fell in love with African Ethiopian food during the Aurora trip in Yellowknife, Canada! I’ve always wanted to eat it again, and finally I got it in Hong Kong!

「香港非洲中心」意外地出現在我的FB上,然後發現它是一個非洲文化聚集的地方,常常有不同的活動:非洲101、非洲鼓、非洲舞蹈、非洲節日慶祝等。當然還有非洲食物:每個月不同的國家主題料理,如七月是非州X印尼;逢星期六晚特定非州國家料理自肋餐,如7月2號是馬拉威料理。
“Hong Kong Africa Center" appeared on my FB by accident, and then I found out that it is a place where African cultures gather, often with different activities: Africa 101, African drums, African dance, African festival celebrations, etc. Of course, there are also African food: different national themed dishes every month, such as Africa X Indonesia in July; special African national dishes every Saturday night, such as Malawi cuisine on July 2.


非洲菜式9成都是純素的,當天我們一群人預約了私人料理,私人料理可選擇自己喜歡的國家,超多餐單選擇,如尼日利亞、埃及、加納、南非、肯尼亞、坦桑尼亞、摩洛哥、剛果、盧旺達、南蘇丹、巴巴多斯等。我們則選擇了埃塞俄比亞餐單,七道菜裡,有五道都是純素的。料理包括:
90% of African dishes are vegan. On that day, a group of us booked a private meal. The private meal can be chosen from the country you like. There are many menu choices, such as Nigeria, Egypt, Ghana, South Africa, Kenya, Tanzania, Morocco, Congo , Rwanda, South Sudan, Barbados, etc. We opted for the Ethiopian menu, and five of the seven courses were vegan. Dishes include:
1. Injera (麵餅 Ethiopian Flatbread)
是一種有獨特的海棉質感的發酵後麵餅,是埃塞俄比亞的國菜。經過發酵,所以吃起來酸酸的,不是很符合香港人的口味,但非常獨特。
A sour fermented pancake-like flatbread with a slightly spongy texture, injera is the staple dish in Ethiopia. The sour taste is not very Hong Kong palate but very unique.
2. Doro Wat (燉雞 Chicken Stew)
香辣的慢煮埃塞俄比亞燉雞,主要用於特殊場合和家庭聚會。
An onion-based spicy chicken stew usually made during occasions like parties, weddings, birthdays, or any day.
3. Misir Wat (燉紅扁豆 Spiced Red Lentils Stew)
大概是燉雞的素食版,也是當地被封素食領域真正出類拔萃的菜餚之一。 以紅扁豆為特色的菜餚,一種營養豐富的食物,Misir Wat 是整個埃塞俄比亞的主食,也是埃塞俄比亞餐廳最受歡迎的素食菜餚之一。當然也是我的最愛!
Probably a vegan version of Toro Was (chicken stew), it is one such example of a dish that truly excels in the vegetarian realm. A dish featuring red lentils, an abundantly available crop, Misir Wat is a staple dish throughout Ethiopia and one of the most popular vegetarian dishes in Ethiopian restaurants.
4. Gomen Wat (綠葉甘藍燉菜 Collard Green Stew)
這是任何埃塞俄比亞廚房的中流砥柱。 它既豐盛又清淡,幾乎可以搭配所有東西作為配菜!無論是吃起來還是看起來,都像極了中國的梅菜,很好搭配!
Gomen Wat is a mainstay in any Ethiopian kitchen. It is hearty yet light and goes with just about everything as a side dish! Whether it tastes or looks like a Chinese “molded dried vegetable", it goes well together!
5. Tibs (炒牛肉 Stir-Fried Beef)
這是一道混合的燉菜,瞬間把菜和肉混在一起,在埃塞俄比亞很受歡迎的菜式之一。主廚另外使用了豆腐代替了牛肉,特別提供了一道素食版的「炒牛肉」,不錯吃喔!
This is a mixed stew that instantly mixes vegetables and meat, one of the most popular dishes in Ethiopia. The chef also used tofu instead of beef, and specially provided a vegan version of “stir-fried beef", which is delicious!
6. Veataklete kil kil (薑汁燉菜 Gingered Vegetable Stew)
看起來很普通的燉菜,有紅蘿蔔、青椒、薯仔等蔬菜,但混合燉在一起後,額外惹味!
It looks like an ordinary stew, with carrots, green peppers, potatoes and other vegetables, but when mixed and stewed together, it is extra savory!
7. Salad (沙律)
所有的料理除了搭配Injera (麵餅)來吃,還提供豆湯和米飯,不得不說,豆湯做得非常好,是我喜歡的口味!
In addition to serving with Injera (Ethiopian Flatbread), all the dishes also provide bean soup and rice. I have to say, the bean soup is very well done, which is my favorite flavor!


朋友說他們早前在重慶大廈吃了一家較有名的非洲料理餐廳,好吃的原因是因為已改良成香港人的口胃,卻少了更多真正地道的非洲元素了!所以很推薦大家來一趟「香港非洲中心」,除了品嘗美食,也一起來感受一下非洲的氛圍吧!
A friend said that they tried a well-known African restaurant in Chungking Mansions earlier. The reason for the delicious food there is that it has been modified to the taste of Hong Kong people, but it lacks more authentic African elements! Therefore, I highly recommend you to visit the “Hong Kong Africa Center". In addition to tasting the delicious food, let’s experience the vibe of Africa together!
